Built on seven hills, Antananarivo is an intriguing city. Her distinctive architecture will take you past both large attractive colonial buildings and shacks depicting grinding poverty. The distinctive ochre painted walls and rusty tin roofs that are set to shimmer in the evening light, make an eerie maze with narrow stairways, vibrant markets, cobbled streets, churches and old palaces.
